Now Reading: Yasir Hussain Calls Ertugrul Stars “International Garbage”, Gets Schooled
Ever since the Turkish Drama series – Dirilis Ertugrul – started airing in Pakistan, it has become the standard for TV shows in Pakistan. While most of the people absolutely loved the series, some like Yasir Hussain, famed Pakistani actor and host, didn’t share the same opinion. From speaking out against PTV airing Ertugrul in Urdu dub to snapping at QMobile for making Esra Belgic its ambassador, the Karachi Se Lahore actor has not held anything back in opposing it. With what the actor had to say now, he doesn’t seem to be interested in not incurring the wrath of the public anytime soon.
Recently, the Jhooti actor once again took to Instagram to share a distasteful statement about the Turkish show. Turning his guns towards the stars of the show this time, Yasir Hussain termed them as ‘international garbage’. The actor shared a tweet showing Pakistani lookalikes of Turkish actors Engin Altan Düzyatan and Cengiz Coşkun – who play the roles of Ertuğrul and Turgut Alp in the historic series – and wrote;
“Inko koi nahi poochega, kyunke ghar ki murghi daal barabar or bahar ka kachra bhi maal barabar (No one will give them any attention because home-cooked chicken is equivalent to lentils while international garbage is still worth cashing on).
The implication being that local talent, no matter how good, will always get less recognition than even the worst of international ones, just because they are international.
Anoushey Ashraf Schools Yasir Hussain
Anoushey Ashraf – fellow actor and talk show host – snapped back at Yasir Hussain’s statement in the comment section of a post by local publication, Diva Magazine. The actress responded to Yasir by reminding him that NO one is garbage for someone and that he should respect fellow actors as being one, he shares their struggles.
“Let’s just gently remind Yasir that NO one is Kachra for one. And even if their work isn’t at par to his liking, actors from around the world must be respected. It should be an unspoken ‘bond’ of mutual respect between artists. You’ll know your struggles better than the world does,” the celebrity wrote. She further went on to praise Ertugrul for upping the standard of TV shows that the public would appreciate in the show and for inspiring people. Anoushey concluded;
“Having said that Ertugrul is far from kachra, if anything the series is an eye opener for how people are finally rejecting ‘kachra’ work at home and looking out for better scripts, shows and budgets. And lastly, these people in the picture have gotten some attention because of the play itself, not because of any of us anyway. So thanks to a foreign drama for having inspired them to come forth. There are always pros and cons to EVERY situation, let’s just look at the food sometimes.”
Yasir’s Response to Anoushey
Though, Yasir was also quick to clap back at the actress as he dropped a lengthy comment asking Anoushey to “calm down”. He insisted that he never mentioned Ertugrul in his post and reiterated his stance about local productions not getting any attention while international ones are taking away all their spotlight. He also took a shot at the actress, saying that she wouldn’t understand as she has always tried to please international audiences in her show.
Here’s how the full conversation between the two celebrities went;
