It is no secret that the coronavirus pandemic had major effects on every sector and industry of the country. Now, as things are shifting back to normal, activities in Lollywood are also looking to resume.

The news comes from unknown sources who released the poster of the film and also disclosed the name of its working title i.e. “50 Crore”.

“A Money-Heist Ripoff”
Prior to even official details being released, the movie is already being labelled a rip-off as along with the poster showcasing the actors, a mugshot of all the involved characters with their names also started floating on the internet. The image showed all the actors holding up a board with their names on it which revealed the naming convention to be very similar to an internationally renowned series.
While some comparisons were made with Ocean’s Eleven, the main comparisons were made with the massively popular international series, Money Heist. This was especially because of how similar the two’s character reveal format was. Moreover, the characters’ of the upcoming Pakistani production have named based on the country’s cities and similarly, the names of the international series’ characters are based on various cities of the world.
The Director Responds
After the criticism and ‘feedback’ on the anonymous reveal, the director of the upcoming film commented on the obvious inspirations the film took. He not only said that the movie is MUCH more than just a copy as for them, it is introducing concepts from international productions into the Pakistani entertainment industry. Here’s what he said;
“We understand the similarity with the internationally renowned series but for us it is much bigger than that. We are not just inspired by the story lines of the western movies like Oceans Eleven and other similar hits but are also extremely thrilled to bring a similar concept to the Pakistani film industry.”
While the audience continues to remain anxious about how this potential hit is going to come together, no official release date has been disclosed by the producer so far.
No matter how the film turns out or what people think of its ‘inspiration’, undoubtedly, 50 Crore is going to have positive effects on the country’s film industry as every artist has to start with a reference!
