Now Reading: Shehroze Kashif Becomes Youngest Pakistani Ever to Scale Everest
On Tuesday morning, Shehroze Kashif, a 19-year-old Lahore resident, became the youngest Pakistani mountaineer to scale the summit of Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak in Nepal, at 8,849 metres.
Shehroze Kashif, Pakistan’s youngest climber, successfully climbed Mount Everest at 5.02 a.m. today (Tuesday, May 11, 2021), according to a press release issued by Karar Haidri, secretary of the Alpine Club of Pakistan.
Shehroze Kashif began climbing at the age of 11 and began his journey with the ascent of Makra peak (3,885m). He then climbed Musa Ka Massalah peak (4,080m) at the age of 12, Chembra peak (4,600m) at the age of 12, Minglik Sar Shimshal (6,050m) at the age of 13, K2 Gondogoro La K2 Base Camp (5,585m) at the age of 14, Khurdopin Pass (5,890m) at the age of 15, Wide Peak (8,047m) at the age of 17, Khusar Gang. He received the nickname “The Broad Kid” for his expedition to the Wide Peak (8,047m).
On April 8, Shehroze Kashif and his team formed the base camp. Mr Kashif’s dream was to raise the Pakistani flag on the world’s highest peak. Nazir Sabir, Hasan Sadpara, Samina Baig, Mirza Ali, and Col Abdul Jabbar Bhatti are the only Pakistani climbers to reach the summit of Everest.
Discussing about his accomplishment, in a post on his official Facebook page, Mr Kashif said:
“History has been made! Masha Allah I have summited the Everest.”
Mountaineers, politicians, diplomats, social workers, and members of the media have congratulated Kashif on his achievement and wished him a safe return from the summit. On his Facebook page, Nepalese mountaineer and Seven Summit Treks expedition manager – Chhang Dawa Sherpa – wrote: “Huge congratulations to Shehroze Kashif, 19, on becoming the youngest Pakistani to have climbed the Mt. Everest (8848.86m). ”
“This morning Kashif successfully climbed the Mt. Everest as a part of Seven Summit Treks – Everest Expedition 2021,” he then confirmed in said post.
This is truly a great achievement from Shehroze that not only highlights his skills as a talented individual, but also puts a positive spotlight on the country internationally. Definitely something that calls for celebration!
