Prince William pays tribute to Pakistani terror victims

Pakistan News: The Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, on Tuesday, paid tribute to the people who sacrificed and helped make Pakistan a better country. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Prince William and Kate Middleton had arrived in Pakistan on Monday night on a 5-day visit to the strengthen UK-Pak relations. They were welcomed at a red carpet at the Nur Khan airbase where Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and his wife Mehriene Qureshi received them.

He gave his remarks in his first official speech at a reception at the Pakistan National Monument in Islamabad, hosted by Thomas Drew, the British High Commissioner to Pakistan. 

“For a country so young, Pakistan has endured many hardships, with countless lives lost to terror and hatred. Tonight I want to pay tribute to all those who have endured such sacrifice and helped to build the country that we see today”

Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton made a stunning entry in an electronic rikshaw at the dinner where his highness William talked about “Pakistan’s great potential”.

William also talked about the “unique relationship” between the two countries, and that Pakistan can expect the UK to continue to play the role of an important partner and friend.

“Whether it’s this generation or the next, I know that the UK and Pakistan will continue to exemplify the very best in international cooperation,” William added.

The prince while talking about the importance of youth education said that “It will be the key that turns the country’s growing population into an engine of growth and help unlock this country’s enormous potential”. 

He told that tomorrow, along with his wife Kate Middleton, he would meet some communities which are adapting to the new realities and difficulties that climate change brings to their villages and towns.

The couple came to the venue in a rickshaw which was designed with traditional truck art.

Many famous personalities were attending the event, which included Major General Asif Ghafoor, Wasim Akram and his wife Shaniera Akram, cricketer Mohammad Hafeez, Hassan Sheheryar Yasin, designer of the HSY clothing brand, singer Atif Aslam, and actresses Mehwish Hayat, Mahira Khan and Hareem Farooq.

The royal couple also had a meeting with President Arif Alvi and his wife Samina Arifa at the Aiwan-i-Sadr earlier today.

After the meeting, the royal couple was hosted by PM Imran Khan at the Prime Minister House.
