Now Reading: Pakistani Parents Opt To Change Son’s Gender Via Surgery

Pakistan is a country where a large number of people are still a victim of illiteracy, leading to backwards thinking being prevalent in the society. An example of this would be when a child’s gender is confused, most parents opt to ditch their baby out of the embarrassment they would face. Worst part of this scenario is that much of the cases are a misdiagnosis or have traits of both the genders with one side being dominant. Many parents leave these children to fend off for themselves even though they could have a happy life ahead with just a simple surgery.

Involved in a case similar to these were two Pakistani parents who, instead of feeling embarrassed and leaving their kid, opted to give their child a happy and healthy life. Here’s how their story goes:

Ayaan, previously having female dominant traits but getting diagnosed as a boy, recently went through a gender-change surgery at the age of 3. In an interview with Daily Pakistan, Ayaan’s parents revealed how the doctors declared Ayaan as a boy but when they went home and the mother changed Ayaan’s diapers, which led her to find out that Ayaan was not actually a boy. He had dominant female bodily traits and after a test to determine the dominant gender, the results leaned towards feminine genes.

Afterwards, they consulted with multiple doctors and finally chose to have a gender change surgery for their child. While talking to the interviewer, Yasir Shami, the parents clarified that their daughter is a very healthy and happy girl now. The doctors have prescribed some medicines with monthly checkups to keep the hormones under control as well.

What Is Ayaan’s New Name?

Ayaan’s parents mentioned that their child was named Ayaan Ali at birth and now with the gender surgery, they have opted to keep the name “Ayaan”. The parents had two daughters previously and now with the surgery and God’s blessing, they have three.

At the end of the interview, Yasir Shami (the interviewer) and a clinical psychologist urged all the parents with gender confused children to seek treatment and not ditch them.
