When it comes to weddings in Asian countries, spending money like water for an extravagant Shaadi is a must thing. However, most of Pakistani prefer to say “Qabool Hai” in a lavish ceremony.
But a Pakistani couple breaks this stereotype and went for a simple wedding donating all their wedding money to an NGO. It is quite unexpected but Voila! They made it.
Shehzaan and Zainab Chunara, a young enthusiastic couple, cancel their dream wedding. Not only they cancel it but donate all their wedding expenses to the charity.
In a country like Pakistan, it seems impossible not to spend money on your wedding. People start raising money for their wedding from the day they start earning. They spend till the last penny just to turn their wedding in a lavish one.
What Shehzaan and Zainab have to say?
The couple seems so generous and in a video message, they revealed the real reason behind this.
“We began tallying up expenses and started to think it wasn’t worth putting that much money toward something that would only last a few days,” said Shehzaan
The bright couple saved all their money and donated it to a well-known NGO, the Aga Khan Foundation. As the couple was interested in charity and believed this is the best they can do with the money. This generous couple spends every single penny of their wedding expense on charity and ends up with a simple memorable wedding.
Shehzaan further said “Something didn’t quite feel right. We wanted to use the money for something that will have a lasting impact.”
“I’ve seen poverty up close and it’s extremely heart-wrenching.” The couple said, “We felt like it was the right thing to do to allow someone to have clean water, an education and a roof over their head.”
Moreover, the couple requested all their guests instead of giving them gifts; donate the money to the charity. Certainly, this act of kindness will never be left unappreciated. More power to Shehzaan and Zainab.
