Currently Reading: Why Pakistan And Israel Support Azerbaijan In Its War With Armenia?
Weird time we live in! Only times like these can bring to us occasions when two sworn rival countries actually stand on the same page due to geo-political warfare between two decades old enemies. Azerbaijan and Armenia have yet again stepped into full out war activity, reminding the world of their ancestral differences. Armies of both the Asian-European countries have been engaged fully and the peace treaty that was set up by Russia in 1994, has officially been broken. Quite interestingly, many countries have jumped into this mess with their moral and ideological support for either of the two countries, which is now being coined as a proxy war.
Israel, Pakistan, and Turkey are supporting the same country, Azerbaijan in its conflict with Armenia, in an example of entangling relations in the modern world https://t.co/A4Mbr3qBbw

The Conflict At Nagorno-Karabakh
Nagorno-Karabakh is a region situated in the middle of Azerbaijan and is internationally recognized as a sovereign part of the country. Azerbaijan and Armenia were a part of USSR and when it began to weaken in 1980s, Armenia tried to annex the region of Nagorno-Karabakh. This annexation was declined by the USSR government.
This sparked a dispute and led to Armenian extremists hold their places in that region who to this day claim the territory. This group of extremists has the call name of Armenian Separatists. This group had strengthened after the fall of USSR which caused wars resulting in devastating loss of life. The Soviets intervened and held a peace treaty in 1994, which was broken just recently.
Even though Armenia as a country never claimed Nagarno-Karabakh as their property, it openly promotes, supports and encourages the extremists in that region both morally and militarily.
According to correspondent of the Azerbaijan government, Armenia posed aggression and unnecessary use of power over the peaceful land of citizens and killed 34 citizens. The entire conflict has resulted in about 200 deaths.
Entangled International Relations
And the question, why Pakistan and Israel support Azerbaijan in its war with Armenia? Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Turkish president expressed his full support and devotion to Azerbaijan and demanded the occupiers to immediately give up control of Azerbaijani territories.
The other two supporters of Azerbaijan are famous enemies, Pakistan and Israel. Pakistan has not yet recognized Israel. Consequently, it has no diplomatic ties or sharing of foreign offices and embassies with the country due to its illegal and forceful occupation of Palestinian lands. On the other hand, Pakistan has also no ties with Armenia due to its controversial actions. Pakistan, hence supports Azerbaijan’s claim on the Nagorno-Karabakh region, as well as due to the fact that Nagorno-Karabakh is an undisputed sovereign territory of Azerbaijan since the USSR ages.
“Pakistan stands with its brotherly nation of Azerbaijan and supports its right of self-defense againts Armenian aggression,” Pakistan’s Foreign Office statement said.
Israel, on the other hand, has well-established ties with Azerbaijan economically and thus extends its support for the country. And in a way, Turkey and Israel agree on something. Does your mind not refuse to accept that? We sure do live in weird times.
