Now Reading: Multi-Million Dollar Grant Approved by PM Khan for Sports in Sri Lanka
A grant of 52 million rupees has been approved by Prime Minister Imran Khan, in order to develop sports in Sri Lanka. This fact was first revealed in an announcement made by the Sri Lankan Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Namal Rajapaksa.
“Thankful to HE Imran Khan for allocating a fund of 52 million PKR toward the development of sport and sporting infrastructure in Sri Lanka, along with a youth exchange program to further develop social and cultural ties”, said Rajapaksa.
The announcement hit the news during the two-day maiden visit to the country done by Prime Minister Imran Khan, where he interacted with the Sri Lankan leadership. This will insure financial assistance in addition to making it so that the two countries have inked multiple memorandums of understanding (MoUs) on cooperation in the fields of tourism, investment, education and technology.

PM Khan reached the foreign country with Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on 23rd February. On reaching there, the Minister tweeted;
“Pleased to arrive in Colombo with PM Imran Khan for his maiden visit to Sri Lanka. Flag of Pakistan and Flag of Sri Lanka share a close relationship, working together at the bilat level and int’l & regional forums. During this visit all areas of cooperation between Flag of Pakistan Flag of Sri Lanka will be discussed & strengthened.”
In relation to this matter Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi stated that Pakistan has decided to grant full scholarships to 100 Sri Lankan students at the country’s top medical institutes. He made this announcement on the final day of the PM’s two-day visit to the foreign country. “Pakistan has offered Sri Lanka a credit line of $15 million in this regard,” he said.
The Sri Lankan Foreign Minister said that Imran Khan’s visit will strengthen the countries’ bilateral ties and cooperation and thanking Prime Minister Khan for his generosity.
