Messiah season 2 on Netflix air date and Plot [Spoilers Alert]

The show “Messiah” has been very controversial due to its portrayal of Dajjal or the Antichrist. This has rubbed many people off the wrong way, especially Muslims, who believe that the series uses concepts from their scripture but makes light of a serious issue. On top of that, the lead actor’s name is Mehdi which is homonymous to a religiously revered figure called Imam Mehdi. Imam Mehdi is prophesied to come at the end of times as a saviour. This added fuel to the fire. Nevertheless, the show makes for a interesting binge watch.

Before talking about season 2, lets first review the previous season. The premise of “Messiah” follows a CIA officer (Michelle Monaghan) as she investigates a mysterious man claiming to be the second coming of Christ. The main focus of her investigation is to find out whether he actually is what he claims to be or just a conman or worse the Antichrist.

The show does not answer this conclusively but leaves it up for the reader to interpret. Throughout the season, we see Al-Masih (Mehdi Dehbi) accomplish unbelievable supernatural feats like surviving a plane crash and resurrecting a fellow passenger. But his exact nature is left a mystery. There is also a connection between him and Oscar Wallace, a cybercrime terrorist and a professor. In the end, a girl named Rebecca delivers the following message “Al- Masih is the eye …….. the eye of the storm”.

Messiah season 2 is probably set to air in the 2nd quarter of 2021, perhaps in the autumn or spring of 2021.

There is no confirmation on whether there will be a season 2 or not. No need to worry though, usually streaming services wait for about a month of releasing a season before green-lighting a second one. With an IMDB rating of 7.8, the show will hardly get cancelled.

The show will most probably continue to explore the nature of Al-Masih. Shifting back and forth between the perspectives of him being a benevolent being and malevolent one. This was the intention of the show maker Micheal Petroni. In an interview, he responded that “the show doesn’t tell people what to think and it doesn’t give people answers”.

As for those who are missing out on such an intriguing show, we recommend that you watch Messiah online for free.
