Karachi Kings claim the victory over Peshawar Zalmi in PSL game 2!

The most anticipated event of the year has finally begun with a bang. After the great performance by Quetta and Islamabad’s teams in the inaugural match, Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings had much to live up to and they did. The second match of PSL was a thriller ride from start to finish with the former champions, Peshawar Zalmi going down fighting. They lost by just 10 runs and Karachi Kings claimed the win.

Beginning of the match

Peshawar Zalmi won the toss and decided to bowl. Karachi Kings responded with their fierce batting skills, with Babar Azam scoring a whopping 78 runs from 56 balls while Imad Waseem scored 50 runs off of 30 balls and Iftikhar giving a great strike rate and scoring 16 runs off of just 3 balls, remaining not out. After their brilliant innings, Karachi Kings posted 201/4 after 20 overs vs Peshawar Zalmi.

After this amazing performance by Karachi Kings, Peshawar Zalmi was to follow. Things started shaky as Peshawar lost 4 early wickets and Required Run Rate went up to 12. Soon things turned around and Livingstone & Sammy stretched game to last over. But Umaid Asif bowled well & took a brilliant catch which was the game changer and Karachi Kings finally took the victory with 10 runs. Karachi Kings claim 10-run win over Peshawar Zalmi

It is interesting to note that Karachi Kings never lost a game after scoring 180+ in their first innings. Karachi Kings’s highest 1st innings totals are now: 201/4 vs Peshawar Zalmi – Karachi (Today), 190/5 vs Quetta Gladiators – Karachi  (2019), 188/3 vs Multan Sultans – Dubai  (2018)

Man of the match

Babar Azam with his amazing innings was awarded the man of the match title. At the end of the day, Karachi Kings walking away victorious over former champions Peshawar Zalmi at the National Stadium of Karachi.

PSL, into two matches, has been a great ride. Here’s to hoping that it stays like that till the end. If it does, PSL 5 just might end up being the best out of all so far.
