India Imposed Heavy Fine Of 5 million On Adnan Sami


The Singer has been fined a whooping amount of 50 Lakh Indian rupees for the purchase of Mumbai flats in 2003 while he was still a Pakistani citizen. This penalty has been imposed by Appellate Tribunal for the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).

He also have to pay this amount over the period of just 3 months deadline, sources say that Sami has already paid 1 million INR so far. So he has to pay the remaining 40 lakhs in three months from now.

“The impugned order is set aside as far as exercise of discretion under Section 13(2) of the Act. The finding arrived under Section 13(1) shall remain intact. Mr Sami shall deposit the remaining ₹40 lakh with the respondent [ED] within three months from today. As no case under Section 13(2) (about the confiscation of eight flats and five parking space)…the said findings and part of the order is quashed,”  – the verdict read.

According to the report  the 46 year old singer had purchased 8 flats and 3 parking lots in Mumbai  without consent of the Reserve Bank of India while he was still a Pakistani holding green passport.

He paid 25 million Indian Rupees for the flats and later transferred 5 of them to his ex- wife Sabah Galadari. Adnan Sami had applied for Indian citizenship after purchasing the flats and was granted a certificate of Naturalization  on January 1, 2016.

Sami in his defense said that he was unaware that Pakistani citizen cannot purchase immovable property in India.

Adnan Sami is famous for his hatred towards Pakistan, which is why Pakistani trolls make keep finding ways to make fun of him. This event was another chance to make fun of the ex-Pakistani opportunist.
