Now Reading: PTI-led GB Govt to Construct an International Cricket Stadium in Nagar
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) led Gilgit-Baltistan government has announced that it would be constructing a cricket stadium of international caliber at the beautiful location of Pisan in Nagar this year. This decision was announced by Muhammad Khalid Khurshid Khan, the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, on Twitter. The Chief Minister recently held a meeting with Ehsan Mani i.e. the PCB Chairman, where this decision to construct the stadium at this very location was first made.
Cricket has seen a long-overdue revival in Pakistan in recent times, which has got the fans of the sport excited for its future in the country. This revival is marked by South Africa’s current tour of Pakistan, which has fortunately gone very smoothly. Consequently, more and more international teams have expressed their desire to tour the country.
For instance, England has already announced the tour of Pakistan in October this year, and Australia and New Zealand are expected to follow suit tour within the next two years. Furthermore, as per Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) revelations, Pakistan is looking to host a major ICC event within the next ten years as well. Keeping that in consideration, the authorities have been working to increase the number of cricket stadiums in the country to accommodate these visiting teams.

One of the stadiums that caught the eye of the ICC was the Gwadar Cricket Stadium, which was attractive for its stunning beauty. Many people requested the PCB to turn this into an international stadium as the results would bear exceptional fruit. Similarly, another picturesque potential stadium is located in Pisan at Nagar in Gilgit-Baltistan, which was also asked by the people to be turned into one of an international standard.
Former fast bowler, Umar Gul, also shed light onto the said location by posting a picture of the ground on his official Twitter account. Gul requested the PCB and the provincial government to look at this as a potential venue for international cricket and provide the players who play there with all the facilities of an international stadium.

For this purpose of discussing the promotion of cricket, the obstacles that stand in its way as well as the matter of increasing the number of stadiums in the country, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ehsan Mani met with Gilgit-Baltistan CM Muhammad Khalid Khurshid Khan. In this discussion, the construction of the aforementioned cricket stadium in Nagar was decided.
On the occasion, Khalid Khurshid also emphasized that the construction of a cricket stadium in Nagar will provide a golden opportunity to play cricket in very favorable weather in the summer season as it gets very hot in other parts of the country. Also, the fact of the stadium’s construction was revealed in a tweet by the GB Chief Minister. He also tagged Umar Gul in the tweet, who specifically requested for it to happen.

The construction of the stunning stadium is expected to be started in a time frame of a few months.
