FIA registers case against Meesha Shafi, others for defaming Ali Zafar on social media


The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) cybercrime wing booked the famous singer Misha Shafi and eight others.

As per details, the case has registered at the request of singer-actor Ali Zafar. Ali stated that Misha Shafi launched a smear campaign against him on social media.


Other Eight Names

Besides Meesha Shafi, Iffat Omar, Leena Ghani, Maham Javaid, Fariha Ayub, Ali Gul, Haseemuz Zaman Khan, Humna Raza, and Syed Faizan Raza names were also included in the case. Under section 20 (1) of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016, and R/W 109-PPC.

Reports have affirmed that FIA’s cybercrime wing registered an FIR against the accused after a two-year investigation.

The agency provided the accused with more than three opportunities to defend. Unfortunately, they failed to do so and is responsible for the action.

How this all start?

In 2018, Misha Shafi put allegations on Ali Zafar for sexual harassment. Later on, she starts a campaign against Ali Zafar on social media.

Ali Zafar filed a defamation suit worth Rs1 billion against singer Meesha Shafi over hurling harassment allegations. He further added that various social media handlers were publishing threats and defamatory material against him.

Subsequently, Pakistani singer Meesha Shafi also filed an Rs2 billion defamation suit against him in Lahore sessions court for making false allegations against her.

As per details, the suit includes Rs1bn for hurting the Shafi’s reputation. While Rs1bn for “mental torture and agony”. She also requested the court to declare Ali Zafar’s statements as false and defamatory.

Ali Zafar’s Move

To support his stance, he provided details of some Twitter and Facebook accounts as well.

The singer further stated that several fake accounts were created to initiate a hate campaign against him days before Meesha Shafi’s allegation of sexual harassment against him in April 2018.

He claimed that most of those fake accounts connect to Meesha Shafi. Ali Zafar said that whatever imposed on him is all under the conspiracy plan of Meesha and her lawyer.

Zafar states that NEHASAGOL1 is the most used account for the campaign and obviously the fake one.

Surprisingly, the first 6 followers of this account include Meesha Shafi’s lawyer Nighat Dad, mother Saba Hameed, aunt Bashara Hameed, friend Lena Ghani and accused Haseem Zaman, Zafar.

Besides this many other fake accounts were came to light for spitting filth on Ali Zafar. He stated that many of them terminated soon after he tweeted about complaining to FIA about it.
