Pakistan News: People on social media are backlashing DAWN on publishing fake news without any proof or investigation.
Dawn recently published a news on their website and newspaper regarding the London Bridge Attack. DAWN reported in the news that the attacker was identified as Usman Khan, who is a 28-year-old UK national of Pakistani Origin. DAWN reported that Usman had been practicing terrorism in Pakistan. According to DAWN, Usman stabbed two people who died at the spot and left three people injured on Friday in the attack that caused panic and fear all across London.
The local police identified Usman Khan as a British National from Staffordshire. Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu said in a statement, “We are now in a position to confirm the identity of the suspect as 28-year-old Usman Khan, who had been residing in the Staffordshire area. As a result, officers are tonight, carrying out searches at an address in Staffordshire.
“This individual was known to authorities, having been convicted in 2012 for terrorism offenses. He was released from prison in December 2018 on license and clearly, a key line of inquiry now is to establish how he came to carry out this attack.”, Neil added. Neil also told that special armed forces shot Usman and he died at the moment.
“The circumstances, as we currently understand them, are that the attacker attended an event earlier on Friday afternoon at Fishmonger’s Hall called ‘Learning Together’.”, Neil said.
But it turns out that the news was not correct. DAWN is being accused of publishing fake news as the attacker, Usman Khan is reportedly not a Pakistani and was born in the UK. Usman’s father was born in Bangladesh and only his mother was born in Pakistan. However, Usman never came to Pakistan and has no affiliation with Pakistan.
Due to this accusation, DAWN has recently received major backlash on social media especially Twitter. People on Twitter are criticizing DAWN and claiming that DAWN is spreading Indian Content and is supporting the Indian agenda in Pakistan. Some people also said that DAWN is pleasing their Indian sponsors by publishing such news.
