Coronavirus In Pakistan: Fifth COVID-19 related death recorded in the country by the authorities.
The fifth case of coronavirus death was confirmed in Gilgit Baltistan on Sunday by the GB government. The government told in a statement that Dr Usama Riaz, who was tending and treating the coronavirus patients, had lost his life after contracting the virus. DHQ Gilgit Baltistan had admitted the young doctor. 26-year-old Dr Usama was in serious condition as he faced issues regarding lungs and brain tissues. He was surviving on ventilator since last couple of days. The Gilgit Baltistan information department added in the statement;
“The martyred, Dr. Usama, will be awarded a hero award.”
Eariler, Pakistan’s government figures had confirmed that a fourth coronavirus related death had occurred in the country. On Sunday, the government authorities confirmed that another coronavirus patient had died, raising the total number of casualties in the country to four.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Chief Minister’s Adviser on Information i.e. Ajmal Wazir announced the country’s fourth death on Sunday. Even earlier, on Friday, KP’s Health Minister i.e. Taimur Jaghra confirmed that a woman with a 20 years history of diabetes had died in Dera Ismail Khan. Though, he did not say that the death was due to the virus as the results were yet to come.

Speaking to the reporters on Sunday, Ajmal Wazir confirmed that test results of the woman had come as positive. He said that the women had come from Taftan and shifted to Dera Ismail Khan. Her death makes for the third death in Khyber Pakthunkhwa and the fourth death in the country due to coronavirus.
Before this, on Friday, Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho had confirmed the death of a 77-year-old COVID-19 patient in the province. The 77-year-old died in a hospital in the southern port city of Karachi and was already suffering from cancer and diabetes. That was the third death in Pakistan and the very first death in Sindh.
Confirmed COVID-19 coronavirus cases so far
According to the official COVID-19 government website, the number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan has shot up to a whopping 776. So far, only 5 people have recovered and 4 patients have died. Sindh has the most number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan i.e. 333. Punjab has the second most with a number of 225. Balochistan and GB follow Punjab with 104 and 71 cases respectively. KP has 31 while the federal capital i.e. Islamabad has 11 coronavirus cases so far.
