Coronavirus In Pakistan: COAS Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa May Be Infected With The Virus.
Chief of Army Staff, General Qamar Javed Bajwa is reportedly under self-quarantine as he may have been infected with COVID-19. This might as well be the case as no official statements regarding the matter have been issued.
Prime Minister Set To Test For The Virus
These reports have started going around after the officially issued statement about the PM is to get tested for the virus. The need for the test arose when Faisal Edhi – current head of the Edhi Foundation – visited PM Imran Khan and donated Rs. 10 million for corona relief fund on behalf of the Edhi Foundation. After the meeting, it was found out that Faisal Edhi, in fact, tested positive for the virus and is currently in isolation.
Imran Khan’s personal physician and focal person for coronavirus- Dr. Faisal Sultan – then announced that the PM would be testing for the coronavirus on his advice. He said;
“I am happy to announce that the prime minister, being a responsible prime minister and a responsible citizen, has agreed to get tested on my advice.”
Late Tuesday night, Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan – Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Information and Broadcasting – also confirmed that PM Imran is indeed all set to test for the virus on Wednesday. Talking on the matter on Tuesday, she told a news anchor;
“Samples for his test will be collected from the Prime Minister Office tomorrow.”
She also assured the media that the PM’s office is disinfected on a regular basis. She said;
“There are meetings held there all the time so we are particular about disinfecting the premises. Faisal Edhi did not have a lengthy conversation with the prime minister. He only handed over a cheque.”
Testing All POSSIBLE Coronavirus Patients
Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan also raised a flag which is a bit disturbing. She told the media that it is unsure as to who or how many people were infected with the virus. She said;
“Who else was affected following Faisal Edhi’s visit remains to be determined and for which everyone must be tested.”
Therefore, chances are very high that Gen. Bajwa might also be one of affected people since the army is closely helping the government in its affairs involving the virus and meetings must have took place with the PM. We can now only pray that that is not the case and hopefully, even the PM tests negative for the virus.
