CDA to Install Security Cameras in the Parks of Islamabad


Capital Development Authority has decided to install security cameras in parks in Islamabad. The decision for the installation of security cameras in parks has taken to provide a safe and secure environment.

This decision was made in a meeting of the district administration chaired by Islamabad Chief Commissioner, Amer Ali Ahmed, on Thursday. He also holds the charge of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) chairman.

Senior officers of the Capital Development Authority and ICT Police attended the meeting. The meeting held in the backdrop of providing a safe and secure environment to the people visiting parks as part of a comprehensive strategy to provide maximum facilities to the residents of Islamabad after shifting of four directorates from MCI to CDA.

As per details, Parks Directorate has directed to work in liaison with ICT police in this regard. Capital Development Authority has further decided to discourage and penalize littering by motorists on roads.

Furthermore, the meeting also approved a plan to develop Shakarparian as a tourist site and restore Lotus Lake.

Situated near Shakarparian, the Lotus Lake was once a charming sight for visitors, thanks to its pink and white flowers and surrounding greenery. But, the negligence of the past administrations turned it into bushes and piles of mud.

Why Islamabad?

Islamabad is witnessing a major upward shift in the provision of municipal services to its residents. After the government recently decided to shift four directorates from Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad to Capital Development Authority following large scale complaints of MCI inefficiency.

Accordingly, from day one of taking over these four directorates. Capital Development Authority in line with directions of Chairman CDA has been tirelessly engaged with the provision of maximum civic facilities to the people of Islamabad.

MPO Directorate is carrying on carpeting work on Islamabad Expressway and providing machinery to other formations for other civic work.

Environment Wing has almost removed wild growth from the entire city while maintenance work in parks is in full swing.

The work will complete in different phases. In the first phase, the cameras will install in major parks of the city including F-9, Lake View, Rose and Jasmine Garden, and Ankara Park. These cameras will also install on selected locations while keeping the privacy of the citizen in view.

CDA has completed the illumination of F-9 Park. Besides the work for repair and maintenance of street lights around the city is also proceeding swiftly. In eight days, CDA has removed 5200 tons of garbage from the city.
