Pakistanis recently moral policed Esra Bilgiç aka Halime Sultan for her choice of clothing and failed to remember that the actress is not the character she portrayed. What they probably didn’t know was how the now popular star had once called out Priyanka Chopra for warmongering in a pro-Pakistan comment!
Yup, that’s right. The moral policing is all over with and Pakistanis are now once again showering the Turkish actress with their praises for a recently resurfaced incident from last year. Let’s call back to what transpired.
Priyanka’s Controversial Tweet
On February 26 of 2019, Priyanka Chopra Jonas had tweeted ‘Jai Hind’. This is an Indian slogan which translates to ‘Hail India’. The tweet was also marked with the hashtag ‘#IndianArmy’. Now under normal circumstances, it would just be a patriotic post but what made her prone to criticism on this was that it alluded to the Indian fighter jets bombing a militant training camp in Pakistan.

Incident In Los Angeles
The criticism got worse when during a ceremony in Los Angeles, the Indian actress ridiculed a Pakistani-born girl for questioning her on the controversial statement she made amidst the then ongoing high tensions between Pakistan and India.
At the beauty event in Los Angeles, Ayesha Malik confronted Priyanka Chopra Jonas and questioned her about allegedly encouraging India-Pakistan nuclear war. When she questioned Priyanka Chopra, Ayesha Malik got her mic snatched away. Moreover, instead of answering the question, the United Nations’ ‘goodwill’ ambassador – Priyanka – made fun of the girl. “Whenever you are done venting”, she said.
The Indian actress tried to portray the narrative that Ayesha was screaming and attacking her when she was actually questioning Priyanka Chopra at the event Ayesha called her out for being a hypocrite for promoting war while being the UN’s goodwill ambassador. She said that she was ‘extremely disappointed’ at the manner in which the global star responded to her question.

Esra aka Halime’s Response to Priyanka
In August 2019, Priyanka uploaded a photo of herself along with Danille Jonas and Sophie Turner.
On an unrelated note from the post, Esra Belgic called out the Indian actress on the Los Angeles incident. The Ertugrul actress actress commented;
“Being patriotic doesn’t mean you should encourage war. You shouldn’t belong in a conversation concerning war as a US Goodwill Ambassador. You affect many children, many as a role model. And you were so disrespectful against a woman who just asked you a question about your statement that you shared with millions of people in your own twitter account.”
The tweet from Halime aka Esra has now been deleted, though evidence still remains. Here’s what the actress’ now deleted comment was:
A global star like Priyanka getting criticized by other stars like Esra was no doubt a big deal back then. BUT this now holds an even more special place keeping in mind how Esra’s fame boomed recently in Pakistan. That too, based on Ertugrul’s popularity burst in the country and her flawless acting in the series. Most people didn’t even know about this but hey, now we Pakistanis have one more reason to love her!
