Her brother, Pakistan’s People Party Chairman, Bilawal Bhutto Zaradari shared the first glimpses of the much-awaited grand event. She looked exquisite shimmering in a gold-speckled ensemble by Wardha Saleem with brother Bilawal Bhutto holding the Quran over her head as per customs, when a bride is married off.  He shared a sweet message on twitter: “Happiest moment in many years to see my sister Bakhtawar getting married. Felt like our mother was watching over us in this moment of joy. Wishing them both all the best of for their new life together . Masha’Allah!”

She has been gifted a brand new house by her father, which has been constructed within the Bilawal House in Karachi’s Clifton.

The youngest sibling, Aseefa also had a sweet message for her sister. “I love you, my dear sister. I wish you a happy married life”

She wished the couple a lifetime of happiness and joy.

Bakhtawar and Mahmood exchanged rings two months ago on November 27, 2020, in an intimate ceremony held at the Bilawal House where a limited number of people were invited to the event. PPP chairperson Bilawal could not attend it as he was in self-isolation after testing positive for Covid-19. He had joined the engagement ceremony through video link. At her engagement, she wore a tea pink dress paired with an embellished hand-worked shawl with Mughal art. Chaudhry, on the other hand, sported an all-white look.

Her wedding celebrations started on January 24 at Bilawal House with a Mehfil-e-Milad. The women-only gathering was attended by the aunts of Bakhtawar Bhutto, Faryal Talpur and Dr Azra and other party members of the PPP, according to a statement.

Two days earlier, an elegant henna ceremony was also held at Bilawal House. While we’re still waiting to see what the bride wore at her mehndi function, we did get a glimpse of Bakhtawar glowing a day before the festivities. She applied beautiful henna of Ajrak design on her hands.

Now the Barat is scheduled for today. A brief statement issued by Bilawal House said that some 300 guests are expected at the main function due to the standard operating procedures related to Covid-19.

The PPP spokesperson said that PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has suspended his political activities for a week to participate in his sister’s wedding.

There also has been a lot of suspense on whether politicians apart from PPP’s, such as PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz, have been invited to one of the most anticipated weddings of the season. Now we will have to wait for more pictures to see that.
