A luggage worker at Dubai International Airport who was responsible for luggage loading on the conveyor belt from the flight container was sentenced to three-month jail for stealing two mangoes from the baggage of a passenger.
On August, 11, 2017 he stole mangoes from a fruit box that was to be shipped to India. In his confession note to the police, the accused robber said that he was thirsty and looking for water.The accused, who is a public employee confessed to his crime in the public prosecution charge sheet.
Earlier In April 2018, when the police called him for questioning, they arrested him and searched him house but couldn’t find any stolen item there. Because of no evidence, the accused was released.
But a year later, A security officer said that he saw the accused worker in a warehouse and the CCTV camera of warehouse shows clearly that he is opening the travelers luggage and stealing two mangoes.
Pakistani Mangoes setting new records
After this the Court on Monday ordered the 27-year-old Indian worker’s a 5,000 Dirham fine, for stealing those two mangoes worth about 6 Dirham only and would be deported immediately after paying that fine.
During the interrogation and prosecution investigation, the Indian worker said that he had been working at Terminal 3 of the Dubai airport. His duties include loading travelers luggage onto the conveyor belt from the container and vice versa.
The worker has the right to appeal the verdict within 15 days.
